Today, as Gabe and I got the farmstand ready, we talked to a neighbor whose husband is going to be having heart surgery and then talked to a mom on a walk with her 2 daughters. Everyone walked away with fresh produce in their hands. This farmstand is giving us little moments with our neighbors and fresh food in their hands! ![]()
I started watching "Call The Midwife" over a decade ago and I remember as I watched how desperately I yearned for that kind of connected community. A place where people knew one another and cared deeply for each other. A community that seems to mostly exist now in only ancient of days for so many reasons. I would get so weepy mourning something I never experienced and also mourning something I thought I never would- God surely heard those yearnings where my soul cried out to be deeply embedded into the community I found myself.
Today, I would say I am living something much closer to that than I ever have. I know my neighbors names, some of them now come to church and life in this little neighborhood called Woodlawn feels more and more connected as the years move on. ![]()
