Since November, Pastor Liz and Joe have been engaged in a community cohort hosted by the Schenectady Foundation called Creative Changemakers Circle. Each change maker has a project they are working on to help transform the city of Schenectady into flourishing neighborhoods and community.
This cohort has been a gift, allowing us to meet other people in our city who want to bring beauty, connection, peace, dignity, renewability, compassion, and love to create vibrant and thriving communities.
It was a night of connections, presentations, and people who love the city of Schenectady! It truly has been an honor and a privilege to have been invited to the first cohort of its kind.
Our dream of a community pavilion with a kitchen and bathrooms was very well received. A place for neighborhood dinners, food truck nights, farmers' markets, music, food education, celebrations, youth activities, and partnerships with local schools and organizations.
Also, we have been dreaming of hosting a farm stand at the church, inviting local farms to donate their "seconds or ugly fruits and veggies." We would provide this potentially-wasted food to the community. People can come and give a suggested donation that would go directly toward the pavilion, and if they do not have the funds to take what they need.
We made so many local food connections tonight and people who were incredibly excited about this community pavilion coming to Woodlawn!
